Computer cryptography is the

[u]se of a crypto-algorithm program by a computer to authenticate or encrypt/decrypt information.[1]
[t]he use of a crypto-algorithm in a computer, microprocessor, or microcomputer to perform encryption or decryption in order to protect information or to authenticate users, sources, or information.[2]
