Definition
The envelope header consists of information associated with an email. It contains information similar to the information contained on a traditional envelope.
Overview
The envelope header fields include "Return-Path," "Reply-To," one or more timestamps, and other information added by the mail servers during each leg of the message transmission process.
Privacy
Computer users do not have an objectively reasonable expectation of privacy in envelope header information used for the purpose of transmitting Internet communications to or from a user.[1]
